Poetic Obituaries: Having been conceived by the banks of the river Aeron

in Cardiganshire (and thus her name [Aeronwy Thomas Ellis]), she was born during the blitz in London, where her father was writing scripts for war propaganda films. She was spirited back to west Wales, where her parents rented a bungalow on the outskirts of New Quay. As depicted in the 2008 film The Edge of Love, the Thomases were in this building when it was sprayed with machine-gun fire by a jealous, drunken soldier, who suspected his wife of having an affair with Dylan. Aeronwy was miffed that the baby in the film was a boy (supposedly her older brother, Llewelyn), who was away at the time, rather than herself.
