Dear Poetry Aficionados,
IBPC: Poetry & Poets in Rags
The chair of Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford is headlining the poetry news again. This time, the college's new online voting procedure is the prelude to the new vote, or the re-vote, that will soon take place. But, no word on how Oxford will handle what to now has appeared to be a snub of the fine and knowledgeable poet Arvind Krishna Mehrotra. Apparently, that is how the matter will be handled, without a word.
On the Back Page of News at Eleven, is one of two controversial poems that came out this week. Carol Ann Duffy, the poet laureate of Great Britain, has written a Christmas poem. But just before you get to that, you will find a link to Al Gore's climate change poem included in a Telegraph article. To get a different point of view from the Telegraph's, scroll into our Great Regulars Section to find Linda Sue Grimes' take on his poem.
Among the dozens more articles, we also have a place theme going on, as in Frieda Hughes' writing space, James Merrill's apartment, and Seamus Heaney's countryside. We also look into the rooms of John Keats' pad, to delve into the circumstances of his death. Thanks for clicking into this web space.
Yours,
Rus
