Great Regulars: Another writer who died prematurely, John Lennon,

used a paraphrase of one of [Kahlil] Gibran's best-known lines--"Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so that the other half may reach you"--in the song "Julia" in The Beatles' 1968 album, "The White Album." It goes "Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you, Julia."

Gibran was raised as a Christian and much of his writings deal with the issue of spiritual love.
