Poetic Obituaries: Ann Marie [Campanella] recalled an ice cream outing

when she tried to convince her dad he couldn't tell the difference between frozen yogurt and the full-fat treat. He finally tried it, but said, "Ann . . . it's OK." He told her, "Now try the ice cream," which she did.

"He's right," she had to admit.

The last thing he would have wanted was for the last words about him to be sad, so he can give his own eulogy, in the form of a poem he wrote down in a tidy logbook he kept during the war aboard the USS Chara in the South Pacific.

A vous! Robert Theriault.
