Poetic Obituaries: In addition to being a keen gardener,

[Humphrey] Kay had a passion for opera, ballet and music. He was an accomplished musician and poet, publishing a volume of humorous and reflective verse, Poems Polymorphic. This volume included The Haematologist's Song, which had the refrain: "Blood, blood, glorious blood…" set to the Hippopotamus tune of Flanders and Swann, which he would sing to the serried ranks of delegates at National and International Haematology Meetings.
