Great Regulars: Here in his little room,

he wants to "unsphere" Plato himself. In other words, to take Plato down from his astral perch and reveal the "immortal mind" on earth. Does this refer to Plato's Form of the Good? Or is it God? Could it be the soul or the collective unconscious? I prefer to think of this mind as the canon of literature, from the Bible, The Iliad, and the Upanishads to the present day.

Every time we read this poem, we evoke the sacred space of the tower as the perfect place to commune with the great minds of the past.
