Great Regulars: But as the 1950s gave way

to the 1960s, [Adrienne] Rich became a feminist, embraced open-form verse, opposed the Vietnam War, and involved herself in radical politics. She and her husband separated in 1970, he committed suicide soon thereafter, and she came out as gay. For the next 40 years, she was a fixture in gay, feminist, and antiwar causes, almost all the social causes that characterized the late 20th century. She would teach at many universities and colleges, including Rutgers, Stanford, and Brandeis.
