notably behind the Iron Curtain, a rare adventure for an American at that time--[Konrad] Hopkins stayed for a while in Vienna before successfully applying for a post teaching American literature and drama at Paisley College of Technology, now the University of the West of Scotland. His passion for the arts extended to his enthusiasm for the music of Shostakovich as well as a wide range of literature. He resurrected the reputation of the Paisley-born poet William Sharp (1855-1905)--who also wrote as Fiona Macleod--establishing his own imprint, Wilfion Books, in the process.
