Poetic Obituaries: [Mary Annah Hoey-Alemán] began writing in 1975,

and her poems were published in various anthologies in the mid-'80s, including three volumes of "The American Poetry Anthology" and "New Voices in American Poetry."

Her book, "Leaves of the Memory Tree," is described as a collection of meditative poetry.

Hoey-Alemán lived in a part of Mexico City that afforded her a view of its famous volcanoes, Ixtaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl.
