When I was 18 I began a correspondence with Janes Kirkup that was to span four decades.Poet, novelist, autobiographer, tranlater from 11 languages the list goes on and on.Kirkup's work suffered gross neglect for half a century, omitted from almoost every anthology while lesser poets achieved stardom and sainthood.
