wrote poems to share with Wapakoneta Daily News readers. The poems reflected on holidays and special events. Her last published poem was in honor of St. Patrick's Day.
While she had sold poetry and published some in books, she said the ones she wrote to family and friends meant the most to her. She bought blank cards and filled them in instead of buying cards with verses already on them.
She kept a notepad and pencil by her bed so she was ready when an idea hit.

Hi E.A,
That was great what you posted. I came here to ask if you had a photo of her that I could add, and the poem's gone.
Yours,
Rus
Sally Dafler was my grandmother who sent us poems for every part of the year. I would like to share with you her own words on how she described herself, of course, in a poem-
"About The Poetess"
"She is just a romantic", the townspeople said,
With skates on her feet, a band in her head;
She flies like the blowing wind,
Shirt tails high, her cheeks a blend
Of rays of sun, and morning dew,
Delivering "Comfort" magazine to a few;
A copper penny, here and there, pays to cover
Most all exposed parts that are nearly bare.
Worn shoe soles, cardboard exposed-
Her Sunday School shoes, saved for the cold;
She's far from being ordinary,
Received recognition in basic writing;
She really has a dev'lish flair,
The curling iron has singed her hair;
A girl with a charming attitude,
Did singing in public, music from "Etude";
She's all grown up and getting old,
Stories from memories will be told.
Sally Nevada (Nevada)
The firemen were wondering why they knew her name. When the were told she was the poet for the local paper, they were careful to find her poetry and get to us. All of it survived and we hope to do something with it in the future.
