including A Tale of Two Gardens (2003), The London Gardener (2004) and The Wonderful Weekend Book (2008). She also presented a popular four-part series on trees for Radio 4. Apart from gardening, Italy and her lurchers, Elspeth Thompson loved poetry and photography and the songs of Bob Dylan. Irises and tiny Paperwhite Narcissi were among her favourite flowers. She always counted herself lucky to have been able to make a career from writing about what she loved.
