News at Eleven: San Francisco poet D.A. Powell learned

in early February that he had won a prestigious $100,000 prize for his most recent book of poems. Only days before, he had received a form rejection letter from the New Yorker for a poem he had submitted.

"I kind of like that," Powell said, chuckling softly. "It says that no matter what happens telling you you are on the right path, you are never quite there. You really don't want life to get too easy."
