to write her column, All in a Woman's Day, through 2002. Through the years, she also contributed to other newspapers and periodicals including The Omaha World Herald and St. Joseph Gazette. Through association with her husband Lester's career as a prominent horse breeder and trainer, Leola wrote features for Horseman's Review and Saddle and Bridle magazines and wrote a column, Missouri Valley News, for American Horseman Magazine. She assisted in writing Tales of Nodaway County for the Historical Society, compiled a two-volume set of her All in a Woman's Day columns, and wrote the words to a song At The End of Hollyhock Lane, published in 1945. She also assisted in the editing of Grassroots Reflections, Vols. I and II, and Nodaway County Missouri, A Pictorial History 1910-1984, and wrote original poetry and a book, Jewels. Many events were captured for history and given a fuller meaning and humanity through Leola's work.
