with research and development in private industry and continued in the field of technical information with the federal government. He had a passionate interest in antiques, art and rare books, and operated a shop in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., for a number of years; he continued in this business his entire life. His other interests included writing poetry, essays, fiction and a series of newspaper columns on antiques and environmental matters.
