News at Eleven: Imprisoned politicians and activists in Burma

who smuggle books into their cells to read have always faced severe punishments if caught by the prison guards, but that deadlock was broken by an imprisoned poet who founded two libraries where prisoners can now help themselves to literature, novels and other publications.

"This was the most meaningful thing I could possible have done in prison," said Saw Wai who was released in May. "By setting up these libraries, I discovered the only pleasure that existed in that world of pain."
