April 12th forum announcement

Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags blog

We're well into National Poetry Month, and we begin this week with Seamus Heaney on Czesław Miłosz, followed by Christopher Hitchens on Philip Larkin, followed by Robert Frost on Voice of America. The latter is the first of four interviews in a row, the next with Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Lights Bookshop, followed by Ifeanyi Menkiti of Grolier Poetry Book Shop, then back to the west coast for an interview with Gary Snyder. And there's more in News at Eleven.

Forward is doing a series for National Poetry Month, so we have five links from The Arty Semite in our Great Regulars section. They are weaving in the topic of Passover Seder, an occasion that Adam Kirsch looks at too. Also in Great Regulars, Luisetta Mudie bring us her translations, this week on articles about Ai Weiwei, who is a high-profile victim of the Chinese government. She also looks at the death of Jamyang Jinpa, who has died from his beatings at the hand of the government.

Congratulations are in order. Many thanks to judge Kwame Dawes, for another month of spectacular selections and commentary for the IBPC. March's results are up, and here are the winning poems:

First place: Best after frost by Mandy Pannett of the workshop The Write Idea
Second place: Two Doves by Laurie Byro of Desert Moon Review
Third place: Middle-Aged Man Photographed In Zion by Bernard Henrie of The Writers Block
Honorable mention: Feed the Snake by Michael Creighton of The Waters Poetry Workshop

Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,
Rus
