Poetic Obituaries: Dr. [Michael E.] Hattersley and [David] Harkins had

summered in Provincetown for many years, and when his partner's AIDS became more advanced, he left Harvard [University] and the couple moved to Cape Cod. There, Dr. Hattersley was able to spend more time caring for Harkins and also became involved in local politics and local theater, serving on the Provincetown Theater Company's board of directors and as co-president of Shakespeare on the Cape.

In his time on the Cape, he wrote a successful management communication textbook, a book of poetry, and works of nonfiction, and he contributed articles to a wide variety of journals.
