female to graduate from the University of Alabama Medical College in 1947 and the first female psychiatrist to open up private practice in the state of Iowa in 1957. As a pioneer for women, Dr. Arnold taught at the University of Iowa Hospital, served in several professional organizations, and was a well known face in the psychiatry profession for 38 years.
