January 12th forum announcement

Dear Poetry Aficionados,

IBPC: Poetry & Poets in Rags

Canadian poet Ken Cowles, with his "gift pack of several signed copies of books and CDs to be raffled off," was not allowed into the United States, thanks to the border patrol. This is our headlining article. So much for Canadian poetry. Now, what to do about Canadian beer? It's difficult not to joke about this. But it is a situation that is leading to more and more nightmares for people, some who will get seriously hurt. It seems that no one truly knows what to do about the borders, so some people have taken control, pretending that they know, and the answer is to be bullies. Unfortunately it is not so easy to say, "I'll stay in my own damned country." Ken was to be a key participant in a charity benefit to help "children who suffer from severe seizures."

That's where we begin. As in each week, there are dozens more articles linked to, and some terrific poetry to read. I'll let you discover all this for yourself by clicking the link above.

The IBPC poetry contest results for December are in. And a thank you goes out to our Fall 2009 judge, Majid Naficy. Congratulations to the winners:
