Although he wrote love poems to his wife during her lifetime, they never discussed him writing poems about her after her death, he said, "but I think she knew I was bound to turn to the only thing I could do in life to make sense of it for myself". He added: "I'm still grieving. I won't ever forget this wonderful woman but, at the same time, it's helped me to put my thoughts in order."
