Poetic Obituaries: [Robert Currie] and [Gary] Hyland were designated

Moose Jaw's poet laureates.

In 1975 they, along with a small group of writers that included Barclay, formed The Moose Jaw Movement, a poetry group that endures to the present.

On his website, Hyland advised young aspiring writers to read poetry.

"Poetry is dangerous stuff," he said. "It's designed to shake up your mind. Read enough of it ,and you will become that dangerous entity -the thinking individual."
