Great Regulars: The Poetry of Poise as a much-needed aesthetic

in contemporary American poetry has been my subject this year. To write a poetry of poise is to be concerned not just with refining a poem's formalities, like its lines and stanzas, but with filtering a poem's emotions, ideas, subjects and themes into a frame that provides emotional urgency, insight and originality. "Si Me Olvido Otra Vez" [by Eduardo C. Corral] is nothing if not poised.

from David Biespiel: The Oregonian: Corral's words are nothing if not poised
