surprise is Cara Benson's (made), a brief and spare collection (housed in an 8.5" x 5.5" production, rather than the more common 6" x 9") that condenses language into diamondic fragments that consistently bear rereading and, indeed, cast an even finer and more penetrating light with each subsequent encounter.
Benson does more with the two-word sentence than many poets do in two stanzas or even two poems, largely because it would be difficult to find even a single wasted word in (made).
