News at Eleven: A biographer, a journalist, a clinical neuropsychologist

and a Sanskrit scholar--as well a few professional poets--make up the final runners and riders for the position of Oxford professor of poetry after nominations closed this week.

Eminent English poet Geoffrey Hill is widely seen as the frontrunner for the post, the most prominent in British poetry behind the poet laureate.
