Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blog
Tibetan poet and editor Tashi Rabten has been sentenced by the Chinese government to four years in prison for being part of pro-Tibetan publications, what the Chinese officials call "separatism". (Sounds like a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.) That's our fourth story. Aung San Suu Kyi gave her second Reith Lecture on securing freedom. It's on dissent. That's our third story in News at Eleven. The Poetry Foundation has opened its new home in Chicago, a beauty. That's our second story. First is the row (yes, British) "that has engulfed the Poetry Society."
But News at Eleven, means we link to eleven topics. So we have seven more, including the 100th anniversary of the birth of Czeslaw Milosz, on our Back Page. And that's only News at Eleven (which also has poetry, for instance, one by Alice Walker). There's our Great Regulars section too, with some terrific poetry and article links as well. After those 44 links, come the Poetic Obituaries.
Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
