in reading contemporary poetry, to discover that the auditory element of a poem has run well ahead of one's own aural conditioning. It takes no more than a poet who is particularly clever in her use of sonics--with "cleverness" narrowly defined, here, as the ability to craft soundscapes grander than those for which our workaday experiences prepare us.
