A recipient of Pride of Performance in 2004 for her outstanding contribution in literature, Shabnam received great accolades and appreciation for her spontaneous voice reflecting a clear indication of her own expression; "I am standing on my own feet". Her strong voice inspired women who continues to struggle for their rights in the society. She is among the few who understood the nature and true spirit of the 'ghazal' and has employed that to her work with an amazing poetic skill.
