Poetic Obituaries: But Wadsley was his first love

and for years he [Conrad Kaye, known as the Major,] devoted his spare time to painting delicate watercolours of its lanes and buildings as he remembered them from his childhood. The paintings are now on permanent show in an annexe next to Wadsley Parish Church.

His research into the area's history also led to the Major publishing a number of booklets including De Wadsley, Wadesleia to Wadsley 1988, and Memories of Wadsley.

The Major was also a keen poet and wrote on a variety of topics including his feelings on war.
