especially in the last poem, which warns not to expect applause. And yet, although Quantz reminds his pupil that rhetorical flourish is in poor taste and that he must "be faithful to who [he is] speaking from" (a glance, perhaps, at Graham's earlier poetry), he also recognizes the performer's pride in his performance. "It is all right"--Graham seems to be reassuring himself as well--"you will be speaking too".
